About Catherine Southwick
In 2015 Catherine graduated as a Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She is a registered Theta Healing Practitioner and has studied Mindfulness and Meditation. In 2017 she travelled to India for a month and learnt from some amazing teachers.
Her goal is to be able to share with as many people as possible what she has learnt - and inspire them to live a life they love!
I graduated from University as an Accountant. For a while I bought, renovated and sold houses (this was before the Auckland market went crazy!), and I also worked as an accountant in a number of businesses. When I met my husband 15 years ago we started a business together in the trade industry.
It grew quickly and at our largest we had 15 staff… without realizing it, I became stressed. We had two boys close together at the beginning of it all so I was running a business as well as a family and before I knew it I was waking up with coffee and winding down with wine. I was waking up at night worrying about things, yelling at the kids more than I should have and my husband and I were butting heads. The business was booming, but looking back now, I really wasn’t in a very good place.
It wasn’t until a friend of mine invited me to go to a relaxation retreat with her that the penny dropped. Having time to focus solely on myself really gave me time to look at what I wanted out of life, who I wanted to be as a person, and what I was doing to achieve that. It was a big 'AH HA' moment!
When I got home I started making small changes which have lead to big things. Without getting too much into it, I started a regular yoga practice that gave me a lot of mental strength and calmness. I stopped drinking as much alcohol and focused more on nutritious foods. Straight away I noticed a difference in myself and a flow on affect to my family.
From there I have studied many different health, wellness and spiritual modalities.
I am a different person today than I was back then. I am much happier, calmer and mentally stronger. I try to live in the present moment as much as I can and appreciate everything life has to offer. We still have the trade business (and the kids) and the stress that comes with it, but I now know how to deal with it and have better outcomes because of that.
Being able to host retreats is so special to me as that is where my journey began. I look forward to meeting you at one of my events.
