Flu Season 2026 Protect Yourself and Your Whānau This Winter 🛡️💉

Each year, the flu vaccine is updated to protect against the strains of influenza expected to circulate during the winter months. Vaccination remains the most effective way to reduce your risk of serious illness and to help protect vulnerable members of our community — including older adults, young children, and those with long-term health conditions.
When should you get your flu vaccine? ⏰ While vaccinations are available from 1 April, we generally recommend booking your appointment from mid-April onwards, where possible. This timing helps ensure your protection lasts through the peak of winter, when influenza is most widespread.
Who is eligible for a funded flu vaccine? Funded flu vaccines are available for patients who meet the eligibility criteria set by the Ministry of Health, including:
Adults aged 65 years and over
Pregnant people
People with certain long-term medical conditions
Children aged 4 years and under with a history of significant respiratory illness

If you do not meet the funded criteria, the cost of the vaccine is $38.
How to book your flu vaccination 📅 Booking your flu vaccine is straightforward: Use the patient portal (MyIndici) or contact reception by calling 03 372 5190

We encourage patients to book early to secure a convenient appointment time. A simple step that makes a real difference
Influenza can be more serious than many people expect. Vaccination not only protects you, but also helps reduce the spread of illness within families, workplaces, and the wider community. If you have questions about whether the flu vaccine is appropriate for you, our clinical team is happy to discuss this during your next appointment.
